Ok, here is story.

See, my second ex-husband would always advise his friends “Olga is the smartest person I’ve ever met, don’t ever get into an argument with her in public or if winning is important to your Ego. You are not going to. I am not joking. She will not hold back and she will destroy any of your arguments.”.… See, he probably had his biases (they say “love is blind”), and probably I am not the smartest person he has ever met (he was a Mayor of one of the affluent Northern Californian town and a television celebrity running news and sportscasts for 20 years, so I take it he did meet his share of very intelligent people) …. One thing he was right about. I have this talent – I can poke holes almost in any logic. So, love is blind, but not deaf. He has heard a few times people hurt themselves trying to prove some mambo jumbo point. More they wanted to be right, fewer chances they had for winning the argument. Nobody has ever managed.

So, what does it have to do with executive coaching?

See, when it comes to serving people with their aspirations, the most significant impact the coach can make if she can help you to see your blind spots.
Let’s get real. If you were not very intelligent you wouldn’t be where you are now.
You wouldn’t be able to build a growing company, manage people, manage money, and all that jazz.
Yet, as every human being on this planet, you don’t see what’s hidden from you due to stress, conditioned mind (and we are all subject to many programs that are running on the background).
People don’t realize that we are making decisions emotionally and justify them rationally, not vice versa.
Yet, it’s only less than 5% of the information that we process consciously. So, basically 95% of your mind t is driving your life and business, and it runs it on autopilot.
We think we are awake and make optimal decisions, yet we are all intelligent machines.
So, more of the unseen we can bring into our focus, more data we have to make better decisions.

More aware we are about our unconscious decision making patterns, about our attachments to certain viewpoints, our buy-ins into our limitation or limitation of other people, the more we are aware of it all, better we become at planning, executing and making optimal choices. Well, at least much more optimal!
And here I come in. I ask you a question, and you, as 100% of the human population, give me an answer that justifies your choice. Please don’t misunderstand me. You will give me a rationale, not the actual reason. I will be the one who will have to intuit the actual reason, after probing you a few times.

And as I’ve just shared with you, probing for incongruences and inconsistencies to get to the truth of things is what I live for. So, if you want to know what is true within you, I can’t imagine anybody better than me to partner with. Hey, I don’t need to be modest. I know what I can and cannot do. I cannot fly, for example, unless from the bar stool. But THAT I can do, better than anybody in the world, most probably. Hey. I think I should file this for Guinness record… I have to think about it.

The bottom line, if you are a chicken and afraid to be exposed (and I mean, it’s all just between the two of us, between you and me, fully confidential) … yet if you are afraid to get real with me, don’t bother engaging. Go struggle, live sleepwalking.
